Bobcat Company has expanded its compact excavator lineup with two new models—the E17 and the next-generation E20—engineered to deliver high performance, responsive controls and impressive lift capabilities in tight working conditions. Both machines will be available at dealerships throughout the U.S. and Canada beginning November 2025 and will be showcased this fall at The Utility Expo and Equip Expo.
Designed for operators who need powerful capability in confined areas, the E17 and E20 combine zero-tail-swing operation, retractable undercarriages and upgraded hydraulic performance to help crews work more efficiently across a wide variety of jobsites.
Performance and Operator Upgrades Across Both Models
The E17 and E20 share several key enhancements that elevate productivity and machine control, including:
A load-sensing pump paired with a closed-center hydraulic system for smooth, precise operation
Fingertip auxiliary controls to reduce operator fatigue
Hassle-free transport with better lift-point locations, accessible tie-down points and an automatic slew brake
Reinforced covers, improved cylinder fittings, wider structural clearance and long-life tracks for increased durability
Market-leading attachment versatility for greater jobsite flexibility
E17 Compact Excavator: Premium Features, Compact Footprint
The new E17 combines affordability with premium performance, making it a strong solution for landscaping, rental fleets, residential construction and tight-access applications. Its zero-tail-swing design and in-track swing frame allow operators to maneuver confidently when working close to walls, fencing or structures.
A hydraulically retractable undercarriage narrows the machine’s width from 53.5 inches to just 38.6 inches, enabling passage through narrow gates and entryways. For tight transport situations, the dozer blade can also be manually folded to match the undercarriage width.
With a rated lift capacity of 807 pounds, precise joystick controls and a spacious operator area, the E17 delivers balanced performance for digging, grading and material handling in small work zones.
Additional highlights include:
Low-effort joystick controls with fingertip boom swing and auxiliary functions
Wider steps and a flat floor for easier entry and exit
Bright LED lighting for improved visibility
Standard pin-on attachment system with optional coupler and clamp
Standard open canopy configuration
Next-Generation E20 Compact Excavator: More Power, More Capability
The next-generation E20 delivers a significant boost in power, offering 24% more arm digging force and 26% more lift capacity over the blade than the previous model. With a rated lift capacity of 1,098 pounds, the E20 is built to take on demanding digging and lifting tasks while maintaining a compact, zero-tail-swing profile.
Like the E17, it features a retractable undercarriage, in-track swing frame and operator-focused control enhancements. The optional enclosed cab with heat includes premium comfort features such as Bluetooth audio, auto idle, auto shift, reduced noise levels and 3D grab handles for easier machine entry.
Other performance-driven features include:
Closed-center hydraulics with a load-sensing pump and larger boom and blade cylinders
Standard long arm for greater digging depth, reach and dump height
Standard long dozer blade for enhanced grading and backfilling
Premium joystick with fingertip auxiliary controls
Auto idle, auto shift and upgraded cab ergonomics
Built for Tight Spaces, Designed for Productivity
Both the E17 and E20 are purpose-built to help operators move faster, work smarter and gain access to areas where larger machines can’t operate. With versatile attachment options, smooth multi-functioning capabilities and industry-leading maneuverability, these models bring new efficiency to landscaping, residential building, utility tasks and light construction.
