Bobcat Company has completed a major renovation of its Bismarck, North Dakota manufacturing facility, investing $4.8 million to modernize workspaces, strengthen team collaboration and enhance the overall employee experience. The upgrades reflect Bobcat’s continued commitment to investing in people, facilities and the communities that support its long-term growth.

The renovation project transformed 22,560 square feet of shared spaces throughout the facility, including employee breakrooms, meeting rooms, conference spaces and office areas. Updated layouts, modern finishes and refreshed furnishings were designed to match Bobcat’s contemporary workspace standards across its global operations.

“Our facilities are a direct investment in our people,” said Mike Ballweber, president of Doosan Bobcat North America, Inc. “Creating modern, collaborative and welcoming environments empowers our employees to innovate, problem-solve and shape the future of our industry. North Dakota is our home and an essential part of our growth story, and these improvements reinforce that commitment.”

More than 700 professional and production employees work at the Bismarck Manufacturing Facility, where Bobcat produces compact excavators and aftermarket parts. The location also houses the Bobcat Acceleration Center, a key engineering and technology hub supporting product development across the company’s entire global lineup.

According to Scott Zimmerman, Bobcat’s Environmental Health and Safety manager, the renovation not only modernized the building but also improved workplace safety and efficiency. “Our priorities from the start were safety and functionality. Ergonomic workstations, better lighting, advanced safety features and open, collaborative spaces have made a real difference in day-to-day operations and communication.”

The project aligns with Bobcat’s larger investment strategy in North Dakota and beyond. Over the last decade, the company has invested more than $82 million in its North Dakota facilities and nearly $260 million across the United States, underscoring its dedication to long-term expansion and workforce development.

“This renovation reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and to the talented people who power Bobcat every day,” said Ballweber.

The project was completed with support from Shultz + Associates Architects and Capital City Construction, along with contributions from Skeels Electric, Advance Mechanical Inc., InterOffice Furniture, Connect Interiors LLC and Professional Install LLC.

Bobcat maintains a wide footprint in the U.S., employing more than 5,000 people across offices, manufacturing facilities and support operations nationwide. The Bismarck renovation stands as another milestone in strengthening its capabilities, culture and long-term vision for innovation and growth.
