Bobcat Company and award-winning actor and director Josh Duhamel recently joined forces to honor the Los Angeles Fire Department’s first full-time, paid wildland hand crew with a surprise donation—a brand-new Bobcat UV34XL utility vehicle.
The gesture took place during an unannounced visit to LAFD Station 88, recognizing the department’s ongoing work in wildfire mitigation and frontline protection across Southern California.

The donation is part of Bobcat’s “Work Worth Doing” initiative, a national campaign celebrating individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact in their communities. As a Bobcat ambassador, Duhamel delivered the keys himself, expressing deep appreciation for the firefighters’ dedication.

“I think this is some of the most honorable work that you can do,” said Duhamel. “It takes a special kind of person to sign up as a firefighter, especially in a place like Los Angeles where wildfires run rampant. We believe these crews deserve the best tools available, and supporting them is truly work worth doing.”

Honoring Critical Wildland Firefighters

The LAFD’s wildland hand crew plays a vital role in controlling and mitigating wildfires across the region—often working in extreme terrain and dangerous conditions. The donated UV34XL utility vehicle will support the team on the frontlines, helping transport supplies, gear and personnel more efficiently.

“We are grateful for Bobcat and Josh’s commitment to advancing our efforts with the generous donation of a Bobcat UTV,” said Adam VanGerpen, Captain and Public Information Officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. “This will enhance our hand crew’s efficiency in mitigating and fighting wildfires, enabling us to achieve so much more in our mission to keep the community safe.”

More Than a Donation: Supporting the LAFD Foundation

In addition to the UTV donation, Bobcat is also supporting the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. A portion of proceeds from the limited-edition hat worn by Duhamel during the visit will be donated to help fund critical resources for firefighters.

A Growing Movement of Community Impact

Bobcat launched the “Work Worth Doing” initiative in May, beginning with a surprise gift to U.S. veteran Jason Shields—a Bobcat T595 compact track loader supporting his nonprofit, Hoof Haven Sanctuary. The effort continues throughout 2025, with ambassadors including:

  • Justin Moore – Country musician

  • Ryan Nyquist – Professional BMX athlete

Each ambassador will visit and recognize individuals who embody service, generosity and community leadership.

People across the country are also encouraged to participate by sharing their own “work worth doing” on social media using #WorkWorthDoing and tagging @BobcatCompany.
