How Bobcat Company and The Salvation Army Are Helping Communities Prepare Before Disaster Strikes

Bobcat Company expanded its partnership with The Salvation Army to strengthen disaster preparedness and relief efforts across the United States. With an additional $465,000 equipment donation, Bobcat has now contributed more than $1.35 million in equipment since 2024, helping Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services teams respond faster, operate longer and support communities impacted by hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires and other natural disasters.

Bobcat Expanded Its Disaster Relief Partnership with The Salvation Army

Bobcat’s latest donation included portable generators and light towers that will support six Salvation Army locations across Alaska, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and New York. The equipment will help strengthen The Salvation Army’s response fleet across multiple territories, giving disaster relief teams access to mobile power and lighting when communities need urgent support.

This expanded commitment followed Bobcat’s 2024 donation of 23 critical pieces of equipment, including forklifts, portable generators and light towers. That earlier equipment donation supported The Salvation Army’s disaster response operations after Hurricanes Helene and Milton, helping teams deliver faster and more effective relief across the Southeast.

Equipment Donations Help Relief Teams Respond Quickly

When disasters disrupt power, transportation and local infrastructure, response teams need dependable equipment to keep relief operations moving. Bobcat’s donated generators, forklifts and light towers help The Salvation Army provide essential support without delay, especially in areas where normal services may be damaged or unavailable.

The equipment supports key disaster response needs, including:

  • Mobile power for relief operations

  • Lighting for nighttime or low-visibility work

  • Material handling for emergency supplies

  • Faster distribution of food, water and critical resources

  • Support for emotional and spiritual care services

With reliable equipment available before disaster strikes, The Salvation Army can respond more efficiently and continue serving communities through the recovery process.

Disaster Preparedness Has Become More Important as Severe Weather Increases

Bobcat’s support comes at a time when disaster response organizations are facing more frequent and severe weather events. According to the National Centers for Environmental Information, the United States averaged 23 billion-dollar weather disasters per year between 2020 and 2024, compared with an average of just three per year in the 1980s. As these events become more common, organizations like The Salvation Army increasingly depend on portable power, lighting and material handling equipment to maintain relief operations in the field.

Bobcat Continued Its Commitment to Communities in Need

Bobcat’s investment builds on its broader commitment to supporting the communities where its employees, dealers and customers live and work. Bobcat equipment is often used in cleanup and recovery efforts after hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and wildfires, helping communities clear debris, restore access and rebuild stronger. Through its partnership with The Salvation Army, Bobcat is helping disaster relief teams extend their reach, serve more families and deliver critical support when it matters most.

The Salvation Army’s nationwide disaster relief work is part of a larger mission that helped nearly 28 million people in 2025 through food assistance, shelter, eviction prevention, emergency disaster relief, rehabilitation, youth programs, spiritual care and other social services. With nearly 7,400 centers of operation across the country, the organization is positioned to support communities before, during and after emergencies.
