The Bobcat T86-2 compact track loader was named a recipient of Asphalt Contractor’s 2026 Top 30 Editor’s Choice Award, recognizing it as one of the asphalt industry’s most innovative machines for helping contractors improve productivity, efficiency and profitability. As part of Bobcat’s Pro loader lineup, the T86-2 stood out for its powerful performance, operator-focused technology and jobsite awareness features designed for demanding asphalt and roadbuilding applications.

Bobcat T86-2 Earned Recognition for Asphalt Jobsite Innovation

Asphalt Contractor’s Top 30 Editor’s Choice Award highlights products and technologies that help asphalt contractors and producers work more efficiently, safely, sustainably and profitably. The Bobcat T86-2 earned its place on the 2026 list by combining high horsepower, strong lift capability, improved reliability and advanced operator technology in a compact track loader built for challenging paving environments.

The award recognized the T86-2 as more than just a powerful machine. It highlighted how the loader supports crews working around asphalt plants, paving operations, trucks, attachments and tight jobsites where productivity and awareness both matter.

T86-2 Delivered Power and Lift Capacity for Demanding Applications

The Bobcat T86-2 compact track loader paired a 115-horsepower engine with up to a 12-foot lift height, giving contractors the strength and reach needed for demanding asphalt work. As part of the Bobcat Pro loader lineup, the machine was designed to help operators take on tough applications while maintaining productivity and uptime.

Key T86-2 features included:

  • 115-horsepower engine

  • Up to 12-foot lift height

  • Redesigned electrical system for improved reliability

  • Four selectable drive modes for task-specific responsiveness

  • Standard 8-inch touchscreen display

  • Standard rearview camera for improved awareness

These updates helped make the T86-2 a strong fit for busy asphalt jobsites where crews need power, control and dependable performance throughout the workday.

Operator Technology Helped Improve Productivity and Awareness

Bobcat designed the T86-2 with features that help operators work more confidently in active paving environments. Its four selectable drive modes allow operators to adjust machine responsiveness based on the job, whether they need smoother control, quicker reaction or maximum productivity. Inside the cab, the refreshed operator environment included a standard 8-inch touchscreen display and rearview camera, helping improve ease of operation and visibility around the machine.

Optional jobsite awareness tools added even more support for congested paving areas where crews, trucks and equipment often work close together. Available rear-view and broad-area camera systems helped operators maintain better awareness of activity around the loader, supporting safer and more efficient operation.

Jobsite Companion Added AI-Enabled Support for Compact Equipment

The T86-2 could also be equipped with Jobsite Companion, Bobcat’s AI-enabled solution for compact equipment. This technology combined automated machine intelligence, smarter controls, voice-activated assistance and real-time job cost insights to help operators work with greater confidence and efficiency. For asphalt contractors, that meant the loader could support not only machine performance, but also better decision-making on jobs where time, fuel, labor and equipment use all affect profitability.

The T86-2 was named alongside other 2026 Top 30 innovations in asphalt and roadbuilding, including asphalt plants, pavers, compactors, paving platforms, density tools, crushing equipment, sweepers and roadbuilding technology. Its inclusion on the list reinforced Bobcat’s role in bringing compact equipment innovation to asphalt contractors and producers.
